Doug was first admitted to practice law in 1984. Today, Doug focuses on representing artists in the negotiation and drafting of the contracts needed to protect themselves and their intellectual property whether that property is a song, movie, painting, sculpture, book, script, software, fashion design, pattern, dance, or other unique creation. Doug will give you the enthusiastic personal attention your work deserves.

Doug was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. He graduated with honors from Idaho State University in 1981 and sum cum laude from the Boston University School of Law in 1984. In 1984, he joined the Dallas, Texas law firm of Johnson & Swanson where he was an associate in the litigation section. In 1986, he left Johnson & Swanson to work at one of the first litigation boutiques in Texas - Figari & Davenport, L.L.P. Shortly thereafter, Doug became a partner in the firm and continued to practice trial law there until March 2013. 

Doug is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern Districts of Texas and by the Supreme Court of Texas to practice before Texas state and county courts.
